Small Food Manufacturers Conference, April 2-3 in Omaha

The Food Processing Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will host the fourth annual National Small Food Manufacturers Conference April 2-3 in Omaha.  "This annual conference attracts small business owners from all over the United States. As in previous years, we have created an agenda of topics critical to the food industry," said Rolando Flores, director of the Food Processing Center.  "The conference will address key issues and business strategies to help small food businesses grow and succeed in the market place."

Women in Agriculture Conference, Feb 23-24 in Kearney

Nebraska women will learn to take charge of their futures and invigorate themselves through fellowship, education, innovation and networking during the Women in Agriculture Conference Feb. 23-24 at the Holiday Inn in Kearney.

The theme for this year's Women in Agriculture Conference is "Innovation for the Future." Participants will find dozens of workshops, "funshops," and speakers that will help them develop management skills in every facet of agriculture, said Cheryl Griffith, Nebraska Women in Agriculture coordinator.  "We encourage women involved in any type of agriculture production or those working in the industry to attend this year's conference, Griffith said. "In addition to the workshops, participants also can visit the 22 booths set up for display."

Rural Advantage/Healthy Farms Conference

Nebraskans can learn about sustainable and value-added agriculture at the Feb. 10-11 Rural Advantage/Healthy Farms Conference at the Lied Lodge in Nebraska City.

"This year's conference is shaping up to be an excellent one as we have some very interesting and diversified speakers for 2012," said Gary Lesoing, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension educator in Nemaha County.

This year's keynote speaker is Fred Kirschemann, a North Dakota organic farmer and a distinguished fellow of the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture in Ames, Iowa.
